Movement is Life

I will make this quick, because the message is clear and undeniable – we all need to take action, as soon as possible, against the perils of sitting.

Many specialists now believe, after extensive studies and research, that prolonged sitting is one of the most dangerous things you can do for your health. So much so that in 2014, Dr. James Levine, an avid researcher on sitting and director of the Mayo Clinic-Arizona State University Obesity Solutions Initiative, told the L.A. Times that;

“Sitting is more dangerous than smoking, kills more people than HIV and is more treacherous than parachuting. We are sitting ourselves to death.”starting the thought  — “sitting is the new smoking” — but he’s not  alone in his ideas.

Many other researchers have linked prolonged sitting to increase risk of diseases, including cancer, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and more.

Here’s the kicker… these negative effects from prolonged sitting are not reversible with exercise or other good habits, just like the effects of smoking.

This means that your only defense against sitting, is to MOVE, and move often so that sitting doesn’t slowly drain the life out of your body.

In other words, science now says that you cannot sit all the time and live a long and healthy life, no matter how much exercise or yoga you do.

Please use the stretches and movements you find throughout this site to interject in to your daily life and combat the ill-doings of sitting.
